Winiarski scored 50 goals last year for the Whippets, helping them advance to the District 1 playoffs. She also plays club lacrosse for PA Express.

Winiarski, who volunteers at Camphill Special School in Glenmoore, is a member of the National Honor Society and plans to major in English and eventually go into publishing after college. She also considered Duquesne, Temple, George Mason and Franklin & Marshall.

“I chose Drexel primarily for its co-op program, its academic excellence and its great urban campus,” Winiarski said. “I also like that it’s located fairly close to home so my family can easily come to see me play.

“My most recent visit there was excellent. I got to know many of the girls much better and I love that they are such a close-knit group. I also got to witness the coaches in action at the game and liked what I saw in them – serious, constructive and very enthusiastic.”

Winiarski joins teammates Sally Clark (senior, George Mason), and Rhyan Bofinger (senior, Robert Morris) as the team’s current Division I recruits.

Winiarski expects her team to challenge in the Ches-Mont League.

“[We] are a strong team, having two other seniors [Clark and Bofinger] who are committed to D1 programs,” Winiarski said. “I think we’ll be very competitive in the Chest-Mont this season, and can’t wait to play.”
