Kennett senior goalie Gannon Meister has made a verbal commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Susquehanna University.

Mesiter, who played for Team Philly, plans to major in Business Marketing. Meister chose Susquehanna primarily because of the campus and the academic programs.

“I went and visited the school and everything and I just really liked the campus and the programs they offered and everything just felt like a really good fit,” Meister said.

Meister also felt comfortable with the team on both of his visits.

“I met some of the players from the team and they were cool kids and I just thought it would be a good feel,” Meister said.

Meister is the first Blue Demon to commit to a collegiate lacrosse program since the 2007 season when the school had two recruits. Attackman Ricky DeNenno went to Division III Lycoming and defenseman Collin Jefferson committed to Division III Roanoke.

Meister has helped lead the Blue Demons to a 6-4 start. Kennett has a key Ches-Mont League game today against Bishop Shanahan.

Meister is confident his team can build off its strong start and make the District 1 playoffs for the first time.

“Our team is contending to make playoffs this year,” Meister said. “That’s our season goal; our program doesn’t usually make it that far.

“We have a good team that we can do it with. This is our good year.”
