Hatboro-Horsham senior defenseman Kyle Peters has made a verbal commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Centenary University.
Peters, who plays club lacrosse for Twist, will major in business, focusing in entrepreneurship or marketing. He likes that Centenary offers internships and has connections to various companies in fields he is interested in.
“I chose Centenary because when I went on my visit the campus was nice and the guys were great,” Peters said. “Nobody on the team made you feel like a recruit and they were just accepting and ready to make you family, my overnight was awesome.
“Also Coach (Matt) Klank is a great guy and I know I can progress greatly as a player under his coaching.”
Peters will also find Centenary to be quite friendly. High school teammate and fellow defenseman Brock Minninger has also committed to Centenary. Another close friend, Souderton goalie Grant Nice, also committed to Centenary. Also, Pennsbuiry attackman Josh Caven is headed to Centenary.
“[We] have been playing on Twist Lacrosse Club for the past few years and have become great friends,” Peters said. “We both know each other’s style of play and we feel that we can bring a lot to the team next year.”
Peters and the rest of the Hatters squad finished strong after a tough start partially due to a brutal early-season schedule. Hatboro-Horsham finished 9-9 overall after defeating North Penn, 10-6, on Wednesday and is hoping to land a playoff berth under first year coach J.P. Banks.
“After starting 0-4 in the season we knew we had to step it up,” Peters said. “I really like that coach Banks made a tough out of league schedule because it really gives us a test as a team and individually.
“Our team has lost a few guys to injuries but we have young guys stepping up in spots that are needed and they are doing really good,” Peters added. “With the loss of these guys it really helps that our freshman goalie Marc Poust has been doing an amazing job in the cage this whole season.
“I am hoping go far into the playoffs.”
Peters also thanked his coaches from Hatboro-Horsham and Twist as well as his friends and family for the support throughout his playing career.
