Pennsbury senior attackman Josh Caven has made a verbal commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Centenary University.

Caven set a school record for goals (46) last year when he earned First Team Suburban One National Conference honors and helped the Falcons finish 17-3. He also is also a member of Twist Black.

Caven is unsure of a major, but is leaning towards focusing on becoming a secondary teacher or a personal trainer. He chose Centenary because he felt wanted by the head coach (Matt Klank) and enjoyed the team atmosphere.

“I knew right away he wanted me and as soon as I messaged him he typed me back an e-mail and sent it back within ten minutes,” Caven said.

“I like the fact that it was a small school, not too big, not in the city where it’s congested or anything,” added Caven of the Hackettstown, N.J. campus. “And then I went back a second time for an over-night and you could tell that they were trying to go the whole nine yards for me.”

Caven will join Souderton goalie and fellow Twist member Grant Nice as a Centenary recruit.

Caven and the Falcons will be looking to avenge their two losses to four-time defending champion Abington last year as they shoot for their first Suburban One National championship.

“We have a really strong team coming back from last year, and we came just short of winning last year,” he said. “We came in second place. A couple key guys graduated, but we got a nice core group coming back and I think it’s a very obtainable goal to win a championship this year.”
